Syrian refugee vote: “It’s easy to be benevolent at somebody else’s expense”
EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion Elizabeth Andrew (Bemused by Vote, November 3), in a free society.
She is entitled to hers, as is Graham Brady to his, and the rest of us. The UK has donated £3billion to Syria over the past 12 months, at a time when our NHS is crumbling, as is our police, fire, ambulance and roads.
I wonder if Elizabeth and her supporters would continue to hold their views if they had to foot the bill for homing immigrants without forcing the rest of us to chip in?
As my old dad used to say, “It’s easy to be benevolent at somebody else’s expense”. I should be able to opt out of Elizabeth’s “let ’em all come here” nonsense.
