SHARKS qualified for a home semi final tie in the LV Cup with a five try win at Wasps Sale Sharks travelled to Adams Park for the second time in six weeks, hopeful of qualifying for the semi final stages of the LV=Cup. Both sides had players absent due to International call ups and Sharks Director of Rugby decided to give Captain David Seymour a well deserved week off. Sharks backline was unchanged following last weeks win over Scarlets.

SALE Jets lost 20-12 to Gloucester United in the Aviva ‘A’ League on Monday. The game at Kingsholm was played in a diagonal wind, with a torrential first half downpour making life difficult for both sides. Field scored the opening try for the home team, Cook converting then adding a 23rd minute penalty. The Jets replied before half time when winger Haley scored, Cliff converting.

They were also aggrieved by being on the wrong end of referee David Rose’s whistle, with a penalty count 15-4 in the home side’s favour. The busy match official produced three yellow cards in the first half – to Sharks’ Chabal and Turner, and home skipper Lipman.

Montauban 16 Sale Sharks 12 SALE Sharks’ task of qualifying from the Heineken Cup ‘pool of death’ was made much harder when they lost in a wet and windy Montauban on Saturday night. Four penalties from Charlie Hodgson had made the score 13-12 with 55 minutes gone, but Sharks were restricted to midfield in a second half battle, and a breakaway by the lime green-shirted home side with three minutes left saw Scots referee Peter Allen penalise Sebastien Chabal for not rolling away.
