A new nursery opened more than two years after the approval of planning permission for the site at Stanley Square.

Kids Planet opened last month at a ceremony attended by those such as the Mayor of Trafford Dolores O'Sullivan.

Cllr O'Sullivan cut the ribbon to the site on Springfield Road which has facilities for more than 100 children across 6,000 square feet of floorspace.

Kids Planet said the opening creates more than 20 jobs for the residents of the area and contributes to the family-friendly offering at Stanley Square.

At the end of last year Stanley Square, previously The Square, was at capacity for the first time since its development by Altered Space into a hub for a range of businesses both big and small.

This is no longer the case after the closure of the popular pasta restaurant Rigatoni's this month but Altered Space director Michael Brown remained positive about the prospects for a town named as one of the best places to live in the North West by the Sunday Times a year ago.

Mr Brown said: "The successful redevelopment of the town centre has been instrumental in attracting a variety of businesses over the last three years.

"A continuous increase in footfall and the addition of tenants like Kids Planet are testament to Stanley Square's evolution into a thriving community hub."
