There is no room at the inn for the turn of the New Year after the last location at Stanley Square was snapped up by a bar with an alpine theme.

The Sale destination is at capacity for the first time since its development by Altered Space into a hub for a range of businesses both big and small.

The last location at Stanley Square, previously The Square, was snapped by a bar with an alpine theme. Called Folie it opened under the ownership of Dominic Clancy on December 14.

Described as "warm" and "welcoming" it is decked out in wood which is inspired by a ski lodge.

Mr Clancy said: "I am excited to have a spot in Stanley Square and I look forward to getting involved in the hospitality scene. The community in the square aligns with the warming spirit which I want the alpine lodge to generate.

"The residents and the other tenants have welcomed me with open arms and I look forward to spending the festive season and beyond in a vibrant spot."

The journey was not always a straightforward one for Stanley Square. On April 2, it lost its food hall after around 18 months in business, but it was replaced by Canteena Bar & Grill within weeks.

Altered Space's directors Michael Brown and Mark Rebbeck said there is a lot to come in the New Year for a town named as one of the best places to live in the North West by the Sunday Times.

Mr Brown and Mr Rebbeck said: "We want Stanley Square to be at the heart of the community for generations to come.

"We will be continuing to develop this area in the New Year. There is a lot to come in 2024."

The best place to live in the North West was Liverpool according to the Sunday Times this year.

Alongside Sale the runners up were Manchester, Penrith, Rawtenstall, Stockport and Tarporley.

The national newspaper said: "A welcoming and well-connected Greater Manchester location, Sale is emerging from the shadow of Altrincham thanks to its excellent reputation for state schools, tram connections, and the creation of a new town centre hub in Stanley Square with cafes, restaurants and independent shops."
