Hunting folk are not above the law

THE hunting season has barely begun and already the league has evidence of three separate incidents of what we believe to be illegal hunting with case files being prepared for the police.

Hunters who think themselves above the law must be brought to book and we are urging the public to help us work with the police to ensure those who break the law are punished.

Recent Association of Chief Police Officers guidelines recognised the dedicated work of league observers in monitoring hunts activities but we need the public to also be watchful. Any information regarding the time, dates and locations of hunt meets and published hunt cards are a great help to us. Alternatively, anyone who thinks they have witnessed illegal or suspicious hunting can call us in confidence on our Hunt Crimewatch line on 01483 524 250.

We must not forget that 75 per cent of the public support the Hunting Act and are appalled by the cruelty of hunting. We are calling on this majority to help us Keep Cruelty History.

Douglas Batchelor Chief Executive, League Against Cruel Sports Surrey

Is there lots of illegal hunting in Trafford? Or was this letter just sent to every single media organisation you could find?
