I WAS so pleased to read that Steve Mogford of North West Water is living high off the hog of the land on his £2 million salary.
As I live on my own I had a water meter fitted in the belief that this would be economical. I shower, do not water my garden or wash my car and any excessive washing is taken to a laundrette. My latest bill for six months was £180.
Unlike energy companies, customers cannot change their water company or have smart meters. I cannot read my meter because this is outside my house and underground. I have no doubt that eventually, with annual rises, my bill will exceed that of a home with no meter, but that uses more water.
The time surely has come for change and this has to include a dissatisfied customer having the right to have the meter disconnected.
