INSTEAD Of repairing the occasional pothole we’ve acquired in Trafford, why doesn’t the council give grants to start-up car-suspension repair businesses?
They could recoup their outlay by entering into a profit-sharing arrangement with these businesses, which are bound to flourish – provided that the council doesn’t make the elementary error of resurfacing the roads properly.
Additionally, to further replenish their dwindling coffers, the council could introduce a new 'sponsor a pothole' scheme, whereby local firms wishing to advertise themselves would pay an annual fee on a scale linked to the depth of their chosen pothole.
This would have more of a future than the sponsoring of roundabouts which might not be there forever!
