IN the 1970s I had season tickets with my late Dad and we saw Altrincham combative in the Northern Premier League, win the FA Trophy at Wembley, draw at Goodison Park against Everton and the same against Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Then they went on to beat Birmingham City and win the first two national 'fifth tier' leagues but with no automatic promotion and denied access to the Football League the players left and the club has spiralled into decline.

We are in a wealthy area and yet this iconic club appears to be destined for the abyss and bankruptcy.

What has gone wrong and if this happens who will personally benefit?
