IN reply to the comments in SAM with regards to households in Trafford burning coal and wood.
Households should be using smokeless fuels as well as sustainable kiln dry logs. This provides a good clean burn on your stove, which in turn helps with the 'hefty bills'.
I haven't seen any evidence as such that using stoves is linked to lung complaints and diseases such as cancer. In Scandinavian countries people have been using stoves and burning wood for decades, to no ill effect.
My concern is not the rate of stoves being used in Trafford or anywhere else in the country, but the amount of diesel cars on the roads. Diesel is a filthy fuel that we all should be more concerned about.
Consumers were sold these on the premise that diesel was more economical, more mpg, cheaper at the pump than unleaded. Now it's the most expensive............. It was all a big con!
