HAVING been part of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon, and my husband, Cllr Nathan Evans, having run it every year while I and my fellow councillors hand out jelly beans, I had cause to walk six miles of the marathon route mid marathon.

I was flabbergasted by the support. I was enriched by the children who were out participating either giving out water or litter picking, shouting support to the runners, sowing the seed to run it next time maybe.

The Rock Choir in Timperley had 120 singers, all the eateries were open and busy and there was music on most corners, a real coming together of the community.

Congratulation to Simon at Xtra Mile Events and my fellow councillors who ran it Sean Anstee, Alex Williams and all the runners. H

Having walked six miles and managed a blister, that was enough for me.
