Following the recent article “Library War of Words” I, as a local businessman and employer felt I must write.

The first statement is that the existing car park currently offers 125 free spaces with a loss of eight spaces to the development. This statement intimates that there will be 117 free spaces. This is not the case.

The scheme is to develop the existing library and 125 space car park and replace them with: 24 two bedroom apartments, 5300 sq ft Medical Practice, 1000 sq ft Chemist, 4250 sq ft Library, 3120 sq ft Expansion/Office space.

The report of an Independent Planning Consultant shows that the public parking of 125 spaces will be wiped out.

Timperley cannot afford to lose any car parking, especially with recent parking restriction changes such as the village’s main car park behind the Co Op becoming a maximum three hour stay with no return within one hour. This change has already compounded the parking problems within Timperley Village for businesses and their employees, who have had to move to car parks further afield to park their vehicles.
