I am an 83 year old woman. In September I was very ill and telephoned my doctors to ask for an appointment and was told I could have a telephone call from a doctor and this was about the third time this had happened to me.

So I went to the walk-in centre at Trafford and within minutes of seeing a doctor I was admitted to Trafford General acute medical ward with possible DVT.

The service I got there was excellent, better than both Wythenshawe and Hope Hospital.

Just recently I went to see a doctor at the walk-in-centre where I now have my doctors and was given antibiotics for a UTI.

These did not work and I returned to the walk-in-centre to be put on another form of antibiotics, again these did not work so I arranged to see my doctor who practices from the walk-in-centre and he put me into Trafford General again. I have had better treatment and more tests than I had at either of the two much larger hospitals.

I was actually born in Trafford General when it was known as Park Hospital and it is disgusting to say the least that this hospital, which was the flagship of the NHS, being the first hospital to become an NHS hospital is being downgraded.

People of my age need a hospital that is close to where one lives, and not as big as the other two as we find it difficult to both get there and visit patients, sometimes being as much as almost a mile to walk to the ward you want.

I informed Kate Green MP, who worked so hard to keep this hospital open, and she has answered me saying that she has expressed concern that the decisions are being taken behind closed doors, which is unacceptable to the general public who live and work in the Trafford area.
