It’s constantly in the papers about how much money local councils are losing from their budgets and the need to save money from different departments but obviously this does not apply to Trafford who must have money to burn.

Not only do they send people out to botch the same jobs several years in a row instead of doing a proper job to start with, but when there are several parts of a pavement needing repair (as there is outside my house) workmen come out, fix one paving slab by tarmacing over it then go off and leave all the rest (which are in an even worse state of disrepair), no doubt for another day so they can get paid for doing two jobs (or even 3) instead of fixing it all in one go.

So now not only do we have to still contend with dangerous pavements (that in all fairness won't be sorted out properly anyway) but my husband who works nights will have to survive on a couple of hours sleep again at some point when he’s driving hundreds of miles all over the country as we get no notice when these works are going to be done.

After all, why should we expect good customer service in the form of decent workmanship and polite notice? We only pay our taxes and council tax.
