BEFORE she invites travellers to come and live on a permanent site in Trafford, MP Kate Green needs to educate herself to the reality of having a traveller site within a residential area.
There is currently only one such site in Manchester on Dantzic Street and the City Council are searching for somewhere to relocate it, giving the reason that it is not fit for purpose and is also in danger of flooding from the River Irk.
I think the real reason for moving it is that there is a residential development under construction there and they know nobody is going to want to live with a traveller site next door because their "alternative lifestyle" is anti-social.
