MAY I voice my support for the scheme put forward by Hillcrest Homes and the Hale Community Trust.
Not only is this the most balanced and sustainable of the proposed schemes but it has the community at its heart, demonstrated by the support of Friends of Hale Library and Hale Civic Society, as well as other groups.
As a resident of Hale, I want to see a development that is both in keeping with the area and gives back to the residents and users of the village.
The proposed new library site by the bowling green would have the dual advantages of retaining a library in the village centre and creating a modern community hub.
And the considerate redevelopment of the existing library site into a mixture of housing, flats and a retail unit is sympathetic to its surroundings.
Let's hope the council chiefs back a scheme that has the local community behind it - there's no better way to ensure its success.
