RE; 'Vulnerable being left in limbo in hospital beds' (Messenger, March 12).
Is it any wonder there is a shortage of beds, considering the following decisions taken by the NHS at Trafford General.
1 Closure of both female and male rehab wards at Altrincham General, with the loss of some 30 beds.
2 The new 5-storey Altrincham General hospital won't have any wards/beds.
I attended the public meetings with Trafford General staff AND remember the consternation on a group of doctors faces when asked why they were closing/had closed the wards at the old Altrincham General. Oh we're not going back to that was the reply.
Is it any wonder we're short of beds?
The new Altrincham General will be nothing more than a glorified clinic.
Definition of a hospital : Place where people who are ill are looked after/treated.
