I WAS in Altrincham on Saturday afternoon and noticed a traffic warden standing next to the only car parked on a single yellow line, opposite what was once a thriving market.
After a few minutes, he put a ticket on the car and walked away.
Curious, I walked up to the car and examined the tax disc which said ‘Nil’, confirming that it was used by a registered, seriously disabled person, who likely had forgotten to display their disabled badge.
I'm not criticising the warden, he was only doing what he was told to do.
But common sense suggests that such incidents should be dealt with with a note fixed to the windscreen, reminding the driver of the failure to display their badge, as they once were.
Hopefully the driver will appeal against this ticket. But the experience may not encourage them to visit Altrincham again in a hurry.
