MESSENGER drew attention to the vulnerability of Pets' Corner at John Leigh Park in the light of reduced funding for parks and the lack of an active Friends of John Leigh (Messenger, March 13).
The article has provoked a response.
Considerable interest is being expressed in re-launching the Friends as an active organisation and discussions are in progress which we hope will mean that the Pets’ Corner (aviary) can continue to give pleasure.
Councillors are aware of these developments and are supportive. Council officers are working with us.
Thank you for your help thus far. It will give additional strength if people will contact us to indicate their support in principle.
We will organise a public meeting in the near future.
David Jolley, acting secretary, Friends of John Leigh Park, Oldfield Road, Altrincham.
