WITH regard to Trixi mirrors, if they save one life surely it will be worth it.

Would it be too groundbreaking for me to suggest that cyclists take some responsibility for their own safety, a crazy notion I know.

To a cyclist, a lorry, truck , or bus is clearly visible. it is their own recklessness and unwillingness to just stop or pause a while just to let the lorry move on that leads to accidents.

To a lorry driver, a cyclist is hardly visible, if at all,.in some instances.

I saw a large wagon, from a base in Carrington, with a driver holding a sheet of paper over the steering wheel in one hand and a mobile phone in the other.

He was clearly about to make a call while reading from the sheet of paper.

I did ring the company the lorry was from to complain.

The day after, a cyclist in a black overcoat, no helmet, was so busy signalling to turn right and looking at the car behind him, he drove out into the path of my car onto Harboro Road.

Luckily I wasn't speeding or on the phone, so was able to avoid him.

So there is blame on both sides.
