OLD Stretfordians had an emphatic 5-2 win at Heston in the Manchester Amateur Cup at the weekend.
On a day of cup action for Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur Football League sides, Trafford United also had few problems in an 8-0 win against Newton Heath seconds but United thirds found Oldham Vics too hot to handle as they went down 8-2.
Parrs Wood Celtic were beaten 4-1 by Blackley Town and AFC Oldham were routed 9-4 in their local derby with Hollinwood seconds.
Also going out were Newton seconds, who lost 2-1 to Wythenshawe Town Under-21s, South Manchester seconds, who were beaten 6-4 at home to Wythenshawe Ams seconds, and Swinton who lost 4-3 to Heywood St James.
Back on the winning trail were Village Manchester who showed great powers of recovery as they came back from 2-1 down to draw level and win a penalty shootout 5-3.
AFC Oldham seconds join them in the hat for the next round after a 3-2 win at Flixton Village.
Salford Vics seconds carried their great league form into the cup with a thrilling 5-4 win at Manchester Celtic but Chorltonians Villa found previous winners Failsworth Dynamos too hot to handle in a 5-1 defeat.
There were more exits for Deans, who lost 6-0 at Beechfield, Manchester Rovers, who went down 6-3 at Medlock Juniors, Old Strets seconds who lost 7-0 to East Manchester Academy, Parrs Wood Celtic seconds went down 6-2 to Heywood St James seconds and Radclyffe FC were beaten 5-2 in their local derby with AFC Middleton.
Didsbury seconds are through after an 8-1 win at AFC Oldham thirds but it was the end of the road for Old Strets thirds, who enjoyed a great run in the competition last season but were beaten 7-0 by Chadderton U21s.
There was limited league action but in Division B, Spurley Hey seconds climbed off the foot of the table with a 4-2 win against Trafford United seconds.
