DANIELLE Harvey’s hat-trick helped Urmston Hockey Club's Ladies’ second XI to a 5-2 win despite an early opener from Didsbury Greys Ladies’ thirds.
The team showed great resilience to weather a rally from the visitors at 3-2 with Cas Butcher’s defensive solidarity and Charlotte and Bronwyn O’Toole’s midfield masterclass key to the win.
Elsewhere, Robin Cooper’s penalty corner brace helped the Men’s firsts secure a crucial 3-2 victory over Crewe Vagrants Men’s firsts in their title charge.
He was joined on the scoresheet by Jonathon Downes who showed great maturity to round the opposing goalkeeper and fire home while man-of-the-match James McLaughlin made some vital first-half saves.
A flurry of cards were shown to both sides with Downes, Cooper and Brad Bates seeing green for dissent while Charlie Weems and Captain Cooper picked up yellow cards for dissent and team dissent respectively.
Halle Sadri put the Ladies’ firsts into the lead against Bowdon Ladies’ thirds but the home side rallied to beat the Greens 2-1.
Sadri shared the players’ player gong with Becky Crossley while Gemma Booth picked up a controversial green card.
It was tougher going for the Men’s seconds who lost 5-0 to Warrington Men’s firsts with captain Sam Brocklehurst and Humza Ahmed seeing green cards for retaliation and dissent respectively.
