STACEY Brown picked up her second players’ player award in a week as Urmston Hockey Club Ladies’ 1st XI bounced back with a win over Wilmslow.

Goals from Becky Crossley and Stacey Bell gave the local ladies a 2-1 victory in what was an impressively resurgent team performance after a 12-0 loss to Alderley Edge in midweek.

Crossley’s green card did not cost them while goalkeeper Tamsin Gray made some crucial saves during periods of Wilmslow dominance.

The club's men’s 3rd XI ran out 10-1 winners over eight-man Leigh as Jim Mair scored two and made a third in a man-of-the-match performance.

James Wright put in another assured performance with a brace while Jack Coxon made some impressive saves as Urmston romped to victory.

The men’s 2nd XI pegged back Lancaster and Morecambe Men’s 2nds several times to share the spoils in a 4-4 draw, Andy Wilson using his experience to produce the outstanding display of the day.

Dan Downes capped another impressive performance with a goal while Nick Wilson’s ill-discipline saw him receive his marching orders three times.

The men's 1st XI game against Windermere meanwhile was called off due to the flooding in the Lake District.
