TIMPERLEY Cricket Club are celebrating their most successful season ever after a dramatic last day of the season on Saturday.

Both the first and second teams were up against local rivals Sale.

The first team needed three points from their game which came early on in the day after the start was delayed and league rules meant both sides were guaranteed at least 7 points from a shortened game

Timperley won the toss and elected to bat first.

After a slow start, Mike Ness (33) and Craig Grindley (39) helped the visitors to 131 from their 33 overs

Sale got off to an equally slow start and wickets fell regularly to Chris Page (4-34) and Ian Grindley (4-40).

Sale's last pair put on a brave stand of 50 but fell 12 runs short (119) when the last wicket fell.

Elsewhere, the second team had an even more convincing victory having bowled sale out for 139, they reached their target in just 29 overs did the loss of three wickets.

They had gone into the day in 3rd, however, thanks to a last ball victory by Oxton over Nantwich they jumped up to 2nd place also securing promotion to the premier league

Timperley also pick up the leagues aggregate trophy to round off a jubilant 2015 season
