MANCHESTER Giants are delighted to announce the signing of guard Stefan Gill for the 2015/16 British Basketball League season.

The Mancunian returns to the club for a fourth successive campaign and is new player/coach Yorick Williams' first recruit since taking over from Jeff Jones this month.

Gill has been a key member of the Giants' squad since 2012 when the club returned to the elite league.

Giants CEO John Dwan said: "Stefan has been a key player for us since day one and we are really pleased he has committed to us for another season.

"His talent, determination and dedication are just what we need for the new campaign."

Williams said: "Stefan is an experienced and exciting player and a real fans' favourite. We are glad to have him."

Giants fans voted Gill their player of the season for 2014/15.

The club hope to announce further signings for the new campaign very soon.

Gill will be a boost to new head coach Yorick Williams for the 2015/16 British Basketball League season.

Williams, who has played for the Giants in two spells, takes control with immediate effect for his first head coaching role following the departure of Jeff Jones.

Williams started his professional playing career with the Giants in 1994 and returned to the club for the 2013/14 season. He has played for a host of BBL clubs.

Williams said: “The Giants have done some great work in the last three years and I want to build on that.

“It can be a bright future and it starts now.

“We will get on with recruiting and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Giants legend Jones down from his role.

The move will allow him to focus on his post with Manchester City Council, overseeing Manchester’s new National Basketball Centre, as well as his directorships of Basketball England and the British Basketball Federation.
