BROOKLAND first team endured an 82-run defeat at Congleton.

The hosts batted first on a seaming wicket and scored with 201 in a good performance as Max Walker scoring 108 for Congleton and Emmanuel Parmakellis taking 5-79 for Brooklands.

In reply, Brooklands struggled to deal with Congleton’s medium pacers and slumped to 119 all out in the 43rd over.

The only batsmen to return with their head held high included Alexander Jordan Hart (28) and Christian Potter (27), with veteran Paul Beaumont scooping 4-27.

Brooklands are comfortably in mid table and hosting second-from-bottom Bredbury St Marks on Saturday, 1pm start.

The first XI did progress in the Cheshire Cup courtesy of opposition Tranmere Victoria conceding the game.

They progress to face Liverpool Competition Premier League side Wallasey, again away, on May 24.

Elsewhere, the second team grabbed their first win of the campaign, comfortably beating Congleton by 7 wickets having dismissed them for 86.

Alex Robinson did most damage to the visitors taking 4-15.
