Wigan 7 Trafford MV 37

TRAFFORD MV started brightly and early scores from flanker Ross Anderson and No 8 Lewis Kingdon set the standard for the game as MV proved to be the dominant side. Wigan's bigger pack won scrimmage ball but MV had the better of all phases of play.

Despite being under pressure at the set piece MV cleaned up ball well and used their big centres to make in roads into the home sides defence. MV opened up play whenever they could and bulky South African centre Mike Kenrick crashed over for two deserved tries following his return to the side. Other tries came as the MV forwards used their aggression and mobility to break through the fringes of the Wigan scattered defence. Youngster Joe Fagan, and open side flanker Andy Quigley added further scores as Wigan came back mid way through the second half with a converted consolation try.

MV holds its their Old Boys Autumn Reunion on October 11 when all local former players are welcome to visit the club and join in the days activities. MV's mini/junior players will also turn out as a preview to the senior fixture kicking off at 3.00pm
