SALE Sharks back-row JOSH Beaumont marked his maiden appearance in the senior England set-up with one of 10 tries in a 73-12 thrashing of the Barbarians, lasting the entire 80 minutes at No 8.

With father Bill watching from the stands, it was a fitting way to end what has been an excellent campaign for the young Sale Shark.

"I'm feeling a bit tired, but it's been a really good week," smiled the 23-year-old afterwards.

"We gelled quickly out there on the pitch to score some good tries out there."

Beaumont was on hand to grab the England XV's eighth score of a clinical performance, latching onto a through-the-legs pass from London Irish playmaker Shane Geraghty and crossing the line.

One priority of Stuart Lancaster since he took the reins as England head coach in early 2012 has been to make sure his players are aware of the heritage and significance of representing their country.

While Josh was born a full decade after the last of Bill's 34 caps, an impressive family history has never been lost on him.

"I actually said that yesterday to the lads," Josh finished.

"I've grown up aware of what playing for England meant to my dad so it was great to get out here in the white jersey."

Proud father Bill was there to watch him play.

He said: "To see him play here, he's had a great season.

"He missed most of last season with injury so to come back and cap it all by being selecting and scoring under the sticks - it's not bad at all.

"[For tries at Twickenham] I'm one-nil down. I think that's the way it'll stay."

It was a great game for the Sharks as Danny Cipriani scored 33 points in the victory while Tommy Taylor was on the bench for England.

This summer there are a series of stunning events at Sale Sharks.

Ahead of England’s Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign the Sharks are staging an evening with RFU chairman Bill Beaumont on July 2, at the AJ Bell stadium.

The former England grand-slamwinning captain will talk about England’s chances of lifting the trophy as well as discussing Sale Sharks’ recent season.

He will also touch on the form of his son Josh, who was recently named Shark’s Players’ Player of the Year.
