FULL TIME - Kendal 0 Alty 1 - That'll do.

Far from convincing but this is the FA Cup, so any kind of result will do as long as you get the result.

Alty are in the draw for the First Round for the first time in six years and that's exactly what they came here hoping to achieve.

They were dragged down to Kendal's level for much of the game and didn't play the kind of possession football they would have been hoping for.

Alty don't do scrappy battles particularly well but they deserve credit for holding out today. Despite a finely poised game they were never really threatened.

There were some slightly unsavoury scenes after the final whistle though, with Graham Heathcote having to be held back by a group of his players after an altercation with Kendal boss Lee Ashcroft.

What it was about is anyone's guess but the Alty manager was very angry about something.

90 mins - The final five minutes of normal time have passed with very little incident.

Wright has led a couple of charges against the Alty defence but nothing came of them.

There are four minutes of injury time to play though and I don't think the Alty fans alongside me in the main stand will have any nails left by the end of it.

85 mins - Time's running out and neither team are any closer to adding to the scoresheet.

Kendal have begun to throw everything into this now, as they sense their chance slipping away.

If they can hold firm at the back, there will be chances to kill off this game on the break.

80 mins - It's Logan's run.

He replaced O'Neill on the right flank and has immediately got the Kendal defence scared silly.

His first action was to go haring down the flank, putting the pressure on left back Paul Byrne, and the second time he picked up the ball, he carried it a good 20 yards before being brought down 25 yards out.

Unfortunately the young winger's free kick was not quite so good.

His pace has rocked Kendal back on their heels and as they tire more, he could get some joy.

75 minutes - Another set piece and more danger for the Robins.

This time Coburn did well, reacting to tip Callum Warbuton's free kick over the bar.

Logan's now readying himself on the touchline but with the way the game's gone over the past five minutes, maybe it's grit that's needed rather than flair.

70 mins - Alty have enjoyed the chance of the half.

Lawton put a right wing cross into the box, the keeper missed it completely and Hallam nervously headed the ball straight at the feet of Peyton.

It looked as if their could only be one outcome, with the keeper stranded and Peyton eyeing up an empty net, but he managed to send his attempted lob wide of the post.

It was easier to score.

Jake Sedgemore has now been introduced into the game in place of Gareth Whalley in central midfield. Heathcote is likely looking for better ball retention from his midfield and that's certainly what's needed right now.

65 mins - Coburn watched on nervously for a moment there as Kendal came very, very close to an equaliser.

After Alty had given away a free kick 25 yards out, Michael Cole stepped up to curl a superb free kick narrowly wide of the upright. It could have been disastrous.

Set pieces are the most likely source of a goal though for the hosts, as they are struggling to break down the resilient Alty defence.

60 mins - As much as I hate to say it, Kendal have probably been the better team this half.

They've created very little in the way of goalscoring chances but they've controlled the tempo and pattern of the game, still forcing Alty to play it their way.

At the other end Little and Senior have become a bit isolated.

With Carlos Logan sitting on the bench, maybe it's time for a change. But in games like this, you always run the risk of getting caught out if you open up too much.

It's going to be a tough 30 minutes.

55 mins - For a minute there it looked like Senior might actually break the shackles.

For the first time today he used his pace to race in behind the defence after Tinson's long ball. The keeper could only clear the ball straight into Senior as he charged him down but the bounce didn't fall kindly for the visitors.

Looking at the ease with which Senior beat the two centre halves, that's an area where Alty may have some joy as the half wears on.

50 mins - Nothing's really changed at the start of the second half.

Alty are playing down the slope but have yet to really make it count. There's very little in it.

The question is, is that because Alty are playing poorly or because Kendal are playing particularly well?

The answer's probably somewhere in between. The Robins are yet to really show their superior class but Kendal have also given a decent account of themselves. They certainly don't look like a midtable Unibond outfit.

Second half - No changes from either side during the half time break.

The home team were out of their dressing room very quickly indeed, setting themselves up on the pitch a good five minutes before the end of the half time break.

A sign that they're ready and raring to go? Maybe, but at least one thing is certain, this is still very finely poised and it should be an interesting second half.

45 mins - Just a few jitters as the half came to a close, Kendal causing chaos in the visitors' box with two corners one after the other.

But Alty actually came closest to scoring in the last five minutes of the half, O'Neill's low shot from inside the area well saved by David Newnes.

After that good work, Newnes almost handed the Robins their second goal on a plate, dropping a Whalley set piece at the feet of Little. He could only manage to backheel the ball into a crowd of players though and the chance went begging.

40 mins - Another goal is exactly what the doctor ordered to calm Alty nerves. But it doesn't look like coming at the minute.

Kendal are giving as good as they get and providing the Robins back four with a robust physical challenge.

Shotton doesn't look like he's experienced anything like it before and got a bit frustrated after a couple of the linesman's decisions went against him.

But they're still coping well enough with the threat at the minute. See it out until half time and they'll be more than happy.

35 mins - Kendal have roared straight back at Alty and have had a couple of decent chances to get back on level terms.

The best saw Callum Warbuton curl a free kick in towards the near post. The ball ran dangerously into the space between defence and goalkeeper but Arnison just couldn't get enough contact on it.

Then, just moments later, Arnison got in behind the defence again. He looked offside but the linesman didn't give it and luckily the striker blasted his shot over the bar.

This is far from over.

GOAL - 32 mins - Kendal 0 Alty 1 (Little) - Little to the rescue as he pounces on sloppy defending from Kendal to score.

Senior fed O'Neill inside the area and he chipped it towards the back post where Little hopped over the keeper, clipping the ball over him and into the net.

25 mins - It may not be the most entertaining of games but this kind of occasion is what non-league football's all about.

A quaint old ground with just one structure that resembles a stand, a warm welcome and a cup of very strong tea, what more could you ask for?

I don't fancy the toilets much though. Really it was just a gutter with a few toilet blocks thrown in for effect.

That gets me thinking. What are your favourite Alty cup memories? Which grounds are the best and the worst? Where do you get the true non-league experience? Leave your comments at the bottom of this thread.

Little to report on the pitch though. The longer it stays 0-0, the happier Kendal will be.

20 mins - It's messier than a dog's dinner out there.

Neither team has kept hold of the ball for any length of time and it's all very scrappy. For Alty, there's just not enough ball retention up front and every time the ball gets up to the forwards, it seems to go either straight to the Kendal keeper or back into the crowded midfield.

The Robins have been faring slightly better though and Little flicked an effort just wide after O'Neill had headed on Shotton's high ball.

15 mins - The chances have fallen to Kendal so far.

It's not as if they're particularly outplaying Alty at the moment, they've just got the breaks.

Peter Wright came close to punishing his former team, blasting a powerful strike towards the bottom left corner that Coburn did well to keep out. Oh how he would have loved to score today!

The rain's eased off a bit but it's a very greasy surface and the ball's zipping off it in all directions. This day seems set up for an upset but it's up to the Robins to make sure that doesn't happen.

10 mins - A really worrying moment there for the Robins when Gareth Arnison got in behind the defence.

He was charging away down the slope, no-one could catch him, but he scuffed his shot well wide of the post.

It's been a really open game so far and Alty just need to calm things down and try and hold possession, make life difficult for their Unibond League opponents.

5 mins - Not quite the blood and guts start you might have expected from Kendal. Don't get me wrong, they look up for it but they're just biding their time at the minute.

Alty have come closest to an opening, Whalley curling a left-footed free kick into the keeper's hands. But generally it's been an uneventful first five minutes, with just a couple of hairy moments when the defence have misjudged that slope!

3pm - We're off and Alty will have a mountain to climb in the first half - literally!

They're playing up the cliff edge they call a pitch here for the first 45 minutes, so that should be interesting.

It's actually a more adventurous Alty line-up than first thought as well, with O'Neill pushing right up on the right flank to form a virtual 4-3-3. Peyton is wide on the left.

2.45pm - The good news for Alty is that Darren Tinson has recovered in time to start today.

He'll continue his partnership at the heart of the Alty defence alongside Ryan Shotton.

Otherwise, there are very few surprises in the line-up other than the inclusion of Joe O'Neill. It looks like O'Neill will be used on the left of midfield, as he has been in the past, with Gareth Whalley partnering Warren Peyton in the centre.

Meanwhile, former Alty striker Peter Wright starts for Kendal.

If you are reading this thread at home, you can at least comfort yourself by the fact that it's a stinking day up here. Rain, wind and cloud - so typical Lake District weather.
