FULL TIME - A hard fought, and well-deserved, point for Alty.

Considering they were 2-0 down with just 22 minutes on the clock, this really is a terrific result. Alty came in for some severe criticism on Saturday for folding after going behind but they certainly proved their doubters wrong tonight.

They showed tremendous strength of character to come back and claim a point and this will stand them in good stead ahead of the weekend's trip to Forest Green Rovers.

The selection of Senior was a good move by Heathcote, as he gave Alty a different option up front. His pace allowed them to get in behind the defence continually and he showed signs he could become a very important player this season.

There were plenty of candidates for man of the match but my choice is Karl Munroe. The centre half had a shaky opening 20 minutes, along with his defensive colleagues, but was absolutely outstanding for the remainder of the game.

Munroe dealt with anything in the air and also made some superbly timed challenges to deny Halifax any clear chances.

After the 4-1 defeat to Exeter, this was just what the Robins needed and proved there's plenty of life in the old birds yet.

90 mins - The board is put up to indicate four minutes of in jury time and almost straight away Halifax threatened to steal all three points.

Campbell flicked on a through ball and Torpey got in behind the defence, only to be met by the excellent Coburn. Alty's stopper made another terrific save to keep his side on level terms. It's going to be a nervy few minutes.

RED CARD - 88 mins - Lawton has been sent off after making a silly challenge on Matt Doughty. He went in two-footed, leaving the referee little choice, especially as he had already been booked.

That's the risk Robbie runs though. Such a committed player will always run the risk of disciplinary action.

85 mins - Colin Potts has been introduced to give Alty a bit more craft, coming on for Little who appeared to tire during the second half.

I doubt he'll see much of the ball though as Halifax have mounted their final charge. Urged on by the home crowd - and their extremely irritating drum - the Shaymen have held the ball inside their opponents half for a good few minutes and are probing away at the Robins defence. Can they hold out?

80 mins - O'Neill had his first half chance since moving up front a few minutes ago but, unfortunately, made a complete mess of it.

Alty have overcome their jitters somewhat and have enjoyed a bit more of the game over the past five minutes.

Halifax, on the other hand, have huffed and puffed but can't blow the house down. That's mainly due to Tinson and Karl Munroe in the centre of defence but also Lane and, perhaps surprisingly, Aspinall at full back. Playing out of position, Asa has been extremely solid and deserves a lot of credit.

75 mins - Campbell seems to be drawing closer to his hat-trick. Just a couple of minutes after he had a header saved by Coburn, the striker got in behind the defence, drawing his shot narrowly wide of the post.

This is a bit of a shaky spell for the Robins and they just need to see it out.

The expected tactical shift has come, however, with Coo switching to left midfield and O'Neill moving up front.

Alty just need to get hold of the ball and keep possession to take the pressure off their defence. They're giving the ball away too much in the final third.

70 mins - Coo undoubtedly has pace and maybe that was the thinking in bringing him on up front. He's yet to properly use it yet though.

Halifax have started to play with a bit more purpose and have slung a couple of meaningful balls into the box.

One drew an absolutely sensational save from Coburn, the Alty keeper denying Campbell at point blank range after Killeen had flicked on Torpey's cross.

An absolute match-winner from England's number one.

67 mins - A surprising change as Heathcote brings on Cavell Coo for Senior. Even more puzzling, the former Crewe defender heads straight up front!

I know he played there in his junior days but what will he offer in the Blue Square Premier? It remains to be seen.

65 mins - Defences still on top and there are very few clear cut chances right now. Alty almost got away when Aspinall played in Little down the left flank. The striker jinked his way into space and got in a cross but it was easily cleared.

Halifax are being pretty reckless in possession though and are really not doing themselves any favours playing the ball across the back four under pressure from the Alty forwards.

Another slip could decide this game.

60 mins - Former Alty man Steve Torpey has entered the fray as Halifax search for some inspiration. He moves over to the left flank, while Killeen plays down the right and Forrest in the hole behind Campbell.

The tactical switch hasn't worked so far but it's a front line that poses plenty of threat so Alty's defence will have to stay alert.

Aside from the early slips though, they've done their job well. The Robins are looking solid at the back and just need to use the ball better in the final third to properly test their hosts.

55 mins - Halifax are getting increasingly frustrated. They can't seem to keep hold of the ball inside Alty's half and are starting to fly into some reckless challenges as a result.

The home crowd are also growing restless. Moans, groans and the odd frustrated cry are the order of the day in the seats around the press box.

Meanwhile, the visiting fans really are doing their club proud. The Halifax fans have remarked on more than one occasion how noisy their counterparts are. And so they should, they've really been put to shame.

50 mins - A solid start to the second half but both teams are giving as good as they get at the moment.

Neither has really shaded it and there have been few hints as to who might emerge as the winner. Halifax have nullified Senior's threat so far but are offering little themselves up front.

As both teams tire this will become very interesting indeed.

SECOND HALF - One change for Alty at half time, with Joe O'Neill coming on to replace Whalley. The substitution doesn't come as any surprise as Whalley never looked sure of himself after picking up a knock midway through the first half.

It's a blow but it shouldn't harm Alty's chances too much. They just need to get Senior involved at every opportunity.

The little striker lifted the Robins after they went behind early on with his positive play and he causes problems every time he runs at the defence. If Alty can play decent through balls and catch the bulky Halifax defence on the turn, they'll have plenty of joy.

HALF TIME - What an unbelievable first 45 minutes.

Just when it looked like Alty were dead and buried they went and surprised everyone. The home fans fell utterly silent as those two goals went in and proceeded to get more and more frustrated as the half went on. They are starting to get on their players' backs a bit now and if Alty keep up the pressure, Halifax might just crack.

The slippery surface has played a massive part in the game so far. Three of the four goals have come from defensive errors and all as the defence has been caught out on the turn - nobody seems entirely comfortable.

It's still all to play for and Alty look the more likely winners right now. It'll be an interesting second half.

40 mins - The pattern of the game has changed completely now. Taylor went off injured for the home side on 37 minutes and they can't seem to string a decent move together anymore.

Alty are probing well and Halifax keeper Mawson has flapped at a couple of crosses as his side struggle to compose themselves.

Alty now look like the full-time team. If they can keep it tight until the break, they have every chance of stealing all three points after the break.

GOAL - 37 mins - Halifax 2 Alty 2 (Sedgemore) - Unbelievable! Alty have struck back, they're level thanks to an absolutely suicidal four-minute spell from the home defence.

Straight from the free kick following Mawson's handball, Sedgemore scores. It looked like Whalley would take it but he ran over the ball and Sedgemore struck a beautiful free kick into the bottom left-hand corner of the net from 19 yards.

The celebrations tell their own story. Val Owen looks like a man possessed as he grabs Sedgemore and shakes his teammate. They've battled their way back into this game and now it's anybody's.

35 mins - Mawson narrowly escapes a sending off as he handles the ball outside his area with both Alty's strikers bearing down on goal.

It's a free kick but Halifax are lucky it's not more.

GOAL - 33 mins - Halifax 2 Alty 1 (Little) - Another defensive error proves fatal but, luckily for Alty, it falls for them.

Quinn completely fails to deal with a through ball from Whalley, not even making contact with the header, and Little steals in to chip a quite exquisite finish over Mawson.

They're still in this!

30 mins - A couple of slightly more promising signs. Alty manage to get Chris Senior running at the home defence for the first time and he immediately wins a free kick.

Whalley's set piece is headed clear by Quinn but the Robins are looking generally more positive. Quinn just managed to hack away a cross after Senior got behind Rob Scott on the left.

Their ability to respond here will say a lot about their chances for the season as a whole.

25 mins - Alty just manage to scramble away two consecutive corners as they struggle to contain their hosts. Coburn punches one behind, while Lawton is on hand to hack away the other.

It looks ominous, as Alty have barely been out of their half but there's plenty of time left yet so you never know.

GOAL - 22 mins - Halifax 2 Alty 0 - It's hard to see Alty getting anything from this game now.

Taylor has been causing havoc down the right flank and from his cross, Campbell rose to head the second of the game.

The Robins just aren't in this at the moment. Halifax seem to be a much better side this season, with plenty of pace and invention up front, and if Alty aren't careful they could run away with this completely.

20 mins - Whalley seems to be struggling after the knock he picked up. He's doing his best to run it off but he looks a bit tender at the moment - we'll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Robbie Lawton is booked for a late challenge on Killeen, which gets the home fans ranting and raving. There wasn't that much in it to be honest.

15 mins - Halifax are enjoying all the pressure at the moment and Alty just can't get to grips with them.

Coburn was called into action to stop Darryn Stamp's diving header for a Taylor cross, while the defence are looking generally nervy.

Matters almost became worse when Gareth Whalley went down injured. But after a couple of minutes of treatment, the influential midfielder shook off a knock and took his place back on the left flank.

It's going to require plenty of character and mental toughness for the Robins to get back into this game. Have they got it in them?

13 mins - Heart in mouth time.

Tinson almost produces a carbon copy of the error which led to the opening goal.

He stoops to head the ball back to Coburn but barely gets any contact on the ball, leaving his keeper in big trouble. Coburn just manages to palm the ball away from the chasing Campbell, right on the edge of his area!

10 mins - The early goal has immediately put Alty on the back foot.

They don't often win after going behind, especially away from home, and that will be playing on their minds now. They can ill afford another result like Saturday.

GOAL - 8 mins - Halifax 1 Alty 0 - Just the start Alty didn't want.

An uncharacteristic mistake from captain Darren Tinson allows former Middlesbrough striker Andy Campbell to open the scoring.

Tinson tried to head a through ball back to his keeper but didn't get enough on it and Campbell stole in to clip the ball past Coburn.

The veteran centre half immediately curses himself - he's fuming!

5 mins - An unspectacular start to the game.

Both teams are just trying to feel each other out at the minute, although Halifax are enjoying more of the ball in the early stages.

It looks as though they might be using Daryl Taylor to get at makeshift left back Steve Aspinall down the flank, while Lewis Killeen is getting forward at every opportunity on the other side to support his side's two centre forwards.

7.45pm - And we're off!

The rain's eased off here in West Yorkshire so the conditions are a little better than expected. The pitch looks a bit soft though so it might cut up throughout the game.

Alty's 200-strong following are making a fair bit of noise on the terrace behind one of the goals. They're keen to show their support for the team - and the manager - after Saturday's disappointment.

7.30pm - There's only one change to the starting line-up after Saturday's 4-1 defeat to Exeter.

Striker Chris Senior comes into face his old club in place of Joe O'Neill up front. Manager Graham Heathcote is obviously hoping the pacy striker can offer the kind of penetration that was sometimes lacking in their opening game.

Steve Aspinall continues at left back despite the return to the squad of Cavell Coo. The former Crewe man only makes the bench.

He is joined by Rod Thornley, O'Neill, Stephen Rose and Colin Potts, with Matty Berkeley missing out.

Meanwhile, Halifax make just the one change themselves from the weekend's team.

Danny Forrest misses out after the 2-1 defeat at Weymouth, making way for former Tamworth winger Daryl Taylor.

Steve Bushell starts in central midfield against the team he captained last year, while another former Alty man, Steve Torpey, is on the bench.

There is no place in the matchday squad for Anthony Griffith, signed this week on loan from Doncaster Rovers.
