COLIN Potts has returned to Alty after finally re-signing with the club last night.

The popular winger left in December last year in search of first team football and spent the second half of the season with Conference North side Barrow.

But after working extensively on his fitness this summer, Potts earned himself a deal with some impressive performances in Alty's preseason friendlies.

Graham Heathcote also hopes to seal the arrival of two of Potts' fellow trialists by the end of the week.

The Robins boss hopes to complete the signing of 19-year-old Cavell Coo, who was recently released by Crewe Alexandra, on Thursday and is waiting on a response from former Gretna striker Matty Berkeley, to whom he has made an offer.

Also signed to forms on Tuesday night were three members of last season's squad, Gary Scott, Rod Thornley and Pat McFadden.

There are no deals on offer to midfielders Chris Baguley and Jimmy Gaysham, however, despite some encouraging signs n their preseason performances.

Potts originally signed for the Robins in August 2004 and became a vital part of Altrincham's promotion-winning side that season.

The 29-year-old also played a key role in the club's Conference campaign the following year, providing a reliable supply line for the Robins' front men.

But after undergoing a double hernia operation in July 2006, doubts surfaced over the winger's fitness and he failed to regain a regular first team spot.

After going on loan to both Burscough and Chorley, Potts eventually left Alty to gain regular football.
