ALTRINCHAM fell to their second disappointing defeat of the week, losing 2-0 away at Aldershot Town.

Winger Ryan Crowther and defender Andy Parry were ruled out with injury but Michael Rankine was fit to return on the bench.

Alty captain Shaun Densmore returned to the starting line as Jordan Sinnott moved to the bench.

For the first 20 minutes Lee Sinnott's side were on top against the Hampshire club who were on a run of indifferent home form.

But the Robins failed to create any clear chances and gradually The Shots came into the game.

Following a foul by Jake Moult near the corner flag, on the Aldershot right, the free-kick was headed home unchallenged by defender Jack Saville in the 33rd minute.

Altrincham did have the ball in the net as the match went into first-half added time but Damian Reeves's tap-in from a James Lawrie cross was ruled out for offside.

The visitors continued to enjoy the majority of possession and it looked as if they could take something from the game.

But an under-hit back pass by left back Adam Griffin allowed in Aldershot's Rhys Browne.

With goalkeeper Deasy exposed, the spritely Aldershot man slid the ball past him to make it 2-0 in the 63rd minute.

The following few minutes saw Altrincham's defence opened up twice more as Aldershot players advanced unchallenged through the middle. And the Shots' Chris Walker should have scored with a well struck shot but the ball came out off the inside of the post.

An injury to captain Densmore added to Altrincham's woes and they struggled to create any clear chances, even after bringing on striker Michael Rankine as a substitute.
