NORTH FERRIBY UNITED 2 ALTRINCHAM 1
Skrill North Game, September, 21.

ALTRINCHAM surrendered their unbeaten run in disappointing fashion on the banks of the Humber.

Without the injured Danny Boshell and Mike Williams, the squad today comprised the remaining 16 first-team players, Rodgers and Perry replacing Boshell and Walshaw.

The visitors started reasonably well and were unfortunate to see Jake Moult's measured shot from outide the box strike the woodwork in the twelfth minute.

That was to be the only serious threat of an Alty goal during the next hour.

During the first half, skipper Shaun Densmore and midfielder Moult picked up injuries so, by the start of the second half, they were sporting bandages their hand and head respectively.

It took the Yorkshiremen fewer than four minutes after the break to double their lead.

Again, it was former Chester striker, Nathan Jarman who was on the mark, being put clear after a smart passing combination across the front of the Alty box. He then shot past the advancing Coburn.

Altrincham continued to labour as the home defence kept Alty forwards, Perry and Reeves, quiet.

All of Alty's best forward movements came up the left but overall there was too much reliance on hopeful long balls rather than the passing game which has characterised a number of the team's peformances earlier this season.

Almost 70 minutes had passed before Altrincham made a change with, first, Lawrie and, five minutes later, Walshaw, joining the game.

They prompted a much more lively attacking performance from the Robins. As well as producing a series of corners, the changes prompted a goal, as Walshaw poked home Havern's back post header, 13 minutes from time.

Though Altrincham went forward for much of the remainder of the game, they had left it too late to get an equalizer.

So, their 100 per cent away record was lost. Had they played for the whole game as they did in the final fifteen minutes, it might have been a different story.

Following a Tuesday night game at home to Gloucester City (7.45pm), Altrincham travel to neighbours Trafford FC in the FA Cup on Saturday 28.
