Altrincham manager Phil Parkinson and his assistant, Neil Sorvel, have signed new contracts keeping them at The J.Davidson Stadium for another two seasons.

As the club enters its seventh season with the very highly-regarded duo at the helm, their contract extensions provides a fantastic boost to everybody at the club ahead of the new campaign.

“For me, the ambition the club is showing year-on-year made it a really easy decision,” said Phil Parkinson.

“I’d like to think we’ve grown with the club and they’ve grown with us, and we’ve taken great strides together so for me it was a really easy decision.”

Sorvel added: “The previous six seasons have flown by and that suggests it’s been an enjoyable time at the football club, and it certainly has.

“I’m more than happy to extend the contract and sign again.”

The players reported back for training on Monday and full focus is now on building on the club’s first season as a full-time professional team and taking another step forward in the National League.

Director of football, Rob Esteva, said: “Talks have been ongoing with Phil and Neil since the back end of last season with regards to extending their contracts and I think it is fair to say it has been a formality.

“The board are delighted with the news and we’re sure every Alty supporter shares that sentiment.

“Phil and Neil have helped drive this club forward on the pitch since they arrived, and their ambitions are equally matched by the board who remain focused on raising our levels off the pitch.”

In another frantic week of activity, three further new players, have been announced.

Justin Amaluzor had an impressive 2022/23 campaign with Aldershot and the lightning quick 26-year-old winger joins for an undisclosed fee, having scored eight goals last season.

Justin Donawa is an exciting Bermudian international, who was offered a new contract at Solihull Moors, however opted to join the Robins and relocate to Manchester. The versatile 27-year-old can operate as a right winger, wing-back, or right-back.

And George Wilson became Alty’s eighth new signing in less than a fortnight. The 22-year-old midfielder, who started his career at Blackburn, caught the eye of the Alty management team with an outstanding performance in Coalville Town’s stunning FA Cup victory at Notts County in October.
