MANCHESTER Giants have filled two more American import slots with the signings of forwards Torry Butler and Willie Clayton.

Butler, aged 22, is renowned for his rebounding and can cover multiple positions, while 25-year-old Clayton stands 6ft 8in tall.

The pair join fellow American Mike McCall Jr on coach Danny Byrne’s roster for the 2018/19 season, which gets under way at the Trafford Sportsdome in September.

Byrne said: “We first scouted Torry last summer and admired everything about his game, but just couldn't fit him into our plans at the time.

"When it became apparent we were looking for someone in this spot, we knew exactly where to go and didn't hesitate for a second. We've basically been watching him for over a year.

"Torry brings so much to this team in a variety of areas, and may have one of the most important roles as we'll be expecting so many different things from him at both ends of the court.

"He can score inside and out, likes to run the floor and is a big-time rebounder and defender.

"He's the youngest in our main rotation, but has the attitude and determination to step up to this challenge.

“Willie is very strong, uses his body extremely well in the post, and scores at a high percentage around the rim. Offensively he is a very clever and powerful player in the paint. Importantly, we think he will form a strong front court partnership with Vlatko (Granic) as they have very different, complementary, skillsets.

"Willie is a very mature player, as one of the captains on his team at Georgia State, and with two professional campaigns already under his belt.

"Defensively, again, he uses his size and physicality, gets in good positions to take charges, and generally puts it on the line for his team.

"We have looked for high-character individuals this year who will fight through adversity as one and represent Giants and what we stand for in the right way.

"Willie sums that up, with an attitude and work ethic that is second to none. Our fans will love him."
