BROOKLANDS' first XI travelled to third-placed Alvanley but were unable to extend their winning streak in Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two.

After losing the toss and being put into bat Brooklands made a horrific start, losing their top four batsmen for just 11 runs.

It was again left to skipper AJ Hart, this time with wicketkeeper Ali Buchan, to get the visitors' innings back on track.

The pair resolutely dug in, putting on 66 before Buchan was dismissed for 25 and the Hart for 41.

A well-timed cameo from paceman Rob Leach (29) and 14 from Christian Potter helped Brooklands reach a respectable but under-par score of 147, Billy Ouzounidis impressing with the ball for the home side, finishing on 4-41.

In reply, Alvanley lost two early wickets but opener Michael Rowlands (41) and Simon Gee (31), followed by Arthur Brummitt (24) took the hosts close to their target.

Raj Singh, making his first appearance since the beginning of the month, led the way with the ball, taking 4-34, but there was not enough back-up from the rest of the bowling attack to stop Alvanley knocking off the remaining runs in the 47th over.

The seconds played host to Bowdon, currently sitting two places above their hosts in the Second XI First Division.

Skipper Alan Millington won the toss and chose to put Bowdon into bat and it was not long before young seam bowler George Forman struck, removing James Teasdale for a duck.

Fellow opener Ben Atkinson (35) formed a good partnership with Thomas Graham (50) before both were removed by Millington, who finished with figures of 3-36.

Robert Shenkman (38 not out) pushed on for the visitors, who eventually finished on 168-7.

Richard Palmer (27) and Tom Khares (25) made a solid start for the home team in their reply.

A quickfire 19 from Paul Garnett and a standout 53no from Aiden Khares, supported by Joe Gill’s 15no, saw the home side over the line with three overs to spare.

The fourth XI picked up a much-needed win at Hale Barns on Sunday.

Stand-in skipper Sam Higgins won the toss, put Hale Barns into bat and proceeded to open the bowling.

A solid start by the Hale Barns openers was soon cut short with Higgins (1-22) taking a useful caught-and-bowled followed by fellow opening bowler Rahul Geetala (2-33) dismissing H Ali for just one run.

Wickets fell as often as boundaries were scored with only Usman Tarar (37) scoring big for the home side before he was removed by Cameron Buchan in an excellent spell of 4-25.

The Hale Barns innings ended in stunning style as Mahmoud looked to have dropped a dolly from Pope at cover before volleying the ball back into the air with his right foot and nonchalantly taking the catch at the second attempt.

Oli Bowden, making his first appearance this year for Brooklands, began the visitors' reply with youngster Pritvi Mody as they were set a target of 128 to win.

Mody fell early, and with Nouman Ayoub departing shortly after for eight, Mark Bloomfield joined Bowden at the crease.

Bowden, after smashing his way to a quick 28, was trapped lbw off the bowling of Wylie (3-39) bringing Drew Hinde to partner Bloomfield.

With Brooklands at 37-3 it was left to the partnership off Bloomfield and Hinde to settle the innings as the pair put on a valuable 80-run partnership to bring the visitors within sight of victory.

Bloomfield scored rapidly on his way to an impressive 64, including two massive sixes in one over, before he was excellently caught behind by keeper Manny Grewal.

Needing one run to win Hinde (29no) saw off a tricky over from Ogden (0-6) before smashing the spin bowler back over his head for six to secure all 25 points.
