SALE Grammar pupils played a starring role in the handball county finals.
Six pupils from Sale Grammar School represented Greater Manchester's U16 Handball squads at the North West County Qualifiers on October 9.
Last year's Greater Manchester team is the current national county champions and the GM boys were determined to secure a place in the finals again this season.
They came up against tough opposition against Cheshire, were down 8-9 in half time but came back strongly in the second half and managed to win 19-15.
The boys then claimed a comfortable victory over newcomers Lancashire (11-7) 19-12 which means they once again travel down south to Stoke Mandeville for the national county finals on December 4.
The U16 Greater Manchester girls had a tough play off game against a very strong Cheshire side but after a rocky start they were able to pull ahead and keep the lead throughout the second half and win (7-5) 13-11.
The girls will join the boys at the England Handball national county finals in December where they hope, to go one better than last year when they were silver medallists.
