WITH one match to go in the Altrincham and Sale Round the Board Darts League, there are three teams in the running for top spot – Budenburgs, who are leading the way, Timperley Con club and British Rail.
Stan Johnson led his British Rail team to a great victory against the Central Club on Monday after some close games with a high standard of darts.
Nigel Beeton, the current individual champion, came close to a seven-darter – the least you can go around the board in – with the final score 7-3 to British Rail.
Timp Con club had an impressive win against a tricky Brooklands Tap team which sets them up for a final match against the Central Club, giving them a realistic chance of winning the league.
New team Quarry played exceptionally well, taking a point off the Wheatsheaf, while Orange Tree performed their best this season, taking all the points against the Railway.
