ALTRINCHAM 0 BROMLEY 0

WITH all six of Altrincham's closest rivals for relegation losing on Saturday, a win would have lifted the Robins clear of the bottom four.

But, despite dominating the attacking play in the second half, they could not score against Bromley and now face a difficult run-in to the end of the season.

On Tuesday they travelled to Torquay United, before they undertake another long journey to play promotion hopefuls, Eastleigh, on Saturday.

Alty had to play against Bromley last weekend without in-form loanee defender Marcus Holness, following his post-match red card last Tuesday against Dover but left-back Adam Griffin returned after illness.

However, they suffered a further blow when captain Jake Moult had to be replaced midway through the second half after he appeared to twist his ankle.

The first half was a tense affair with little quality from either side.

Referee Rushton annoyed the home support throughout with some baffling decisions.

He ignored two strong penalty appeals, the bigger of which came in the 65th minute when Michael Rankine seemed to be wrestled to the ground.

Altrincham's best chance of a goal was nine minutes earlier when Rankine put loanee winger Josh Ginnelly free, but the Burnley man put his shot just the wrong side of keeper Alan Julian's post.

While Altrincham enjoyed the second half attacking momentum, Bromley remained dangerous on the break with Bradley Goldberg looking lively.

However, they wasted several decent chances with Moses Emmanuel the chief offender.

This goalless draw left Altrincham 22nd and with three of their four remaining games – including Tuesday's trip to Torquay – away from home, it is going to be a difficult job for acting manager Neil Tolson to pull off survival in the top-flight of non-league football.
