MANCHESTER Giants are poised to bring in reinforcements following the departure of Olu Babalola.
The experienced BBL forward left the club by mutual consent last week.
And player/coach Yorick Williams is set to add at least one big man to his squad to replace him and give the team a boost as they look to end a tough losing run.
They head to league leaders Newcastle on Friday night off the back of a 98-90 loss at local rivals Cheshire last weekend.
The Giants came from behind to hold an 11-point lead early in the fourth quarter but were overhauled at the death.
After the break they began the third with the first nine points to build a 12-point advantage. Their lead peaked at 14 points late in the quarter, but Cheshire produced a 6-0 close to cut the gap back to single figures.
Ingus Bankevics’ 3-pointer made it 65-76 in the Giants’ favour with less than eight minutes remaining before Jordan Williams scored 12 points including 10 straight in a 14-0 run that saw the home side move back ahead.
Cheshire produced a further 11-2 run to give them breathing room and they were able to hold on for the win.
Stefan Gill netted five triples in his 24-point haul for the Giants, who fall to a 3-9 record. Bankevics had 16 and Callum Jones 15.
The Giants host Leicester Riders at the Trafford Powerleague Sportsdome on Sunday, December 6.
