TRAFFORD MV took the opportunity to keep up their momentum chasing bonus point wins to forge ahead of the pack in North Lancs Div One.

A key to MV's success this season will be the performance of their forwards and this game saw a much improved performance however room for improvement is there and must be taken.

A good platform at both scrum and lineout set pieces gave a plentiful supply of ball and the back line used it to good effect.

MV's incisive running tore the home sides defence apart and MV ran in eight tries in total securing their bonus point in a 52-18 victory against Colne.

Powerhouse centre Jamie Kingdon was the latest hat-trick hero for MV with captain Ben Wheeler close behind with a couple.

Scrum half Pat Eccles added one with a sniping break down the blindside and back row players Andy Quigley and Danny Burke also crossed the line for MV.

Wheeler had a good day with the boot as he converted six of the eight scores to give MV a handsome win.

The home side scored two tries converting one and also added a couple of penalties – which is another area MV need to tighten up on, conceding kickable penalties that is.

This win has allowed MV to open a four point gap ahead of Thornton Cleveleys the the onus is now on the team to consolidate and increase this lead on a weekly basis as there are big games to come but MV are heading in the right direction.
