Lindow CC – 1st XI – 103-9
ASHTON on Mersey kept in the promotion hunt with an emphatic win at Lindow.
Choosing to bowl first on a green wicket, Ashton’s teenage opening bowlers Luke Crampton and Josh Knowles strangled the home team’s innings with some tight bowling.
Spinner Mike Roberts kept the pressure on, working through the batting line up to record 5-37 as Lindow sputtered to 103-9 in their 45 overs.
In reply, a quickfire 39 from Graham Thomason set up the victory, with Alex Turner seeing the visitors home with a fluent 46 not out.
Ashton remain in third place in the league and welcome Hale Barns next Saturday for a vital game in their promotion push.
Ashton’s seconds remain leaders of their division despite being victims of a rain ruined game after posting 192 (Tom Scott 55).
