SALE Harriers Manchester Athletics Club achieved individual and team honours in the Cheshire Cross Country Championships.
Lara Crawford won the under 11s race in 8mins 18secs at Birchwood Forest Park in Warrington on Saturday (Jan 4), 27 seconds clear of second-placed runner Sian Heslop from Macclesfield.
But with Sasha Mctiffin and Scarlett Whittaker finishing fourth and sixth respectively, Sale finished ahead of Warrington AC and West Cheshire AC in the team event.
Sale’s Alexa Mctiffen was seventh in the under 15s girls’ race with 19mins 1sec, Matilda Yates was 10th in the under 17s event in 22mins 29secs.
Altrincham and District Athletics Club’s Ann-Marie Jones was first across the line in the over 60s veterans’ race in 42mins 28secs, which also placed her 17th in the senior women’s contest.
Her clubmate Matt Barnes was second in the senior men’s race, with his 39mins 54secs being almost two minutes behind unattached winner Daniel Cliffe.
Sale Harriers’ best in the men’s race were James Bailey, sixth in 40mins 55secs, and James Wignall, seventh in 41mins 17secs.
