FOR years, Trafford FC and Flixton FC enjoyed a fierce but respectful rivalry in local non-league football.
Flixton Football Club were forced to close down two years ago mainly due to a lack of volunteers willing to run the club.
Around the same time Northwich Victoria, a club with more than 100 years of illustrious history, were forced to vacate their ground in Northwich, and after much deliberation took over the Flixton ground at Valley Road.
Northwich Victoria now play in the Evo Stik League Division One North and Trafford play in the Evo Stik League Premier Division.
On Tuesday 19th November the two clubs meet for the first time in the First Round of the Evo Stik Doodson Sports Cup for what is a ‘derby with a difference’.
This intriguing fixture kicks off at 7-45 p.m. at Valley Road, Flixton.
