SALE Town finished 5-2 winners as they travelled to Lostock Gralam's Park Stadium for the first time.
Lostock got off to a good start as a counter attack straight through the Sale Town defence resulted in a good finish from the centre forward to make it 1-0.
However a minute later, a long ball from Martin Flanagan caught the home side back four out and put Reece Thompson through who finished well from 12 yards out.
Ten minutes later after some good work between James Woods and James Ginder down the left, Ginder then crossed the ball into the box where Paul Dugmore headed the visitors in front.
Sale extended their lead late into the first half when great work down the right side from Paul Byron and Reece Thompson, they worked the ball up the pitch, before Thompson played a lively one two with Kyle Denton on the edge of the box and finished into the bottom corner.
Shortly after the break Lostock were awarded a penalty but the taker sent the ball high over the cross bar.
However Lostock pulled another goal back when their centre half hit the ball with a right footed volley sending it crashing into the net. The 63rd minute saw Sale's Brendan Damarell finish well from a ball hit by Martin Vaughan making it 4-2, before Thompson completed his hat trick when he finished well from a Mike Billingham free kick.
