A LONGFORD Park JFC team are celebrating after winning their first ever trophy The Under 7s 'Athletic' side took home the Under 7s Team of the Day Trophy at the first ever Manchester FA Powerleague 5s tournament, held on December 2 in Ardwick.
Under 7s Athletic coach Mike Frattasi said: "I'm very proud of the team and how they represented Longford Park JFC on the day.
"Football at this age level should be about enjoyment, learning new social skills and developing as footballers. They certainly enjoyed the day after some initial nerves in the opening game.
"Considering that they haven't been playing together very long, Frankie, Libby, Finlay, Harry and William battled hard in every game, putting into practice some of the elements that they have learnt in training.
"They were not afraid to make mistakes in order to learn - which is something we try to put across to the players in every training session and game - but more importantly they had fun."
