AN Urmston biker who was critically injured in a crash is making huge strides in her recovery - including eating by herself, walking and talking after waking from a coma.

Pati Olearnik, 20, suffered serious injuries after coming off her bike in Crofts Bank Road, in Urmston, on Sunday March 12.

A week later, hundreds of bikers rode to Salford Royal Hospital, where Pati lay in a coma.

Her family played the recording of the huge convoy to Pati in the hopes of pushing her towards recovery – and just days later she showed signs of waking up.

Three weeks on from the crash, Pati is making a remarkable recovery.

Speaking to the Messenger, her sister Karolina said Pati is doing great and has started eating by herself, walking and talking.

“She's a true miracle, the doctors can't believe how much progress she has made in such a short period of time and neither can we,” said Karolina.

“We are all amazed and grateful to all the warm and beautiful hearted people who prayed and supported us.

“When people come together miracles can happen.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after the crash, which occurred at the junction of Canterbury Road and Crofts Bank Road at around 7.30pm on Sunday March 12.

Pati was riding her red Honda motorbike along Crofts Bank Road when a white Vauxhall Zafira pulled out of the junction.

Both crossed onto the opposite side of the road, where Pati came off the bike.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We have launched an investigation to establish exactly what happened and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone who saw the red motorbike shortly before, to get in touch with police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 or 4742, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
