AN Urmston woman is getting on two wheels to help in the fight against cancer – and has your Saturday night planned out so you can help too.

Lorna Heron is taking on her toughest challenge to date with the Women V Cancer challenge in South America.

She will be one of many women cyclists to attempt a gruelling ride through Salvador in Brazil to help raise money for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

The 53-year-old will set off in October, cycling around 220 miles in just five days, both on and off road. Previous Women V Cancer cycle challenges in Kenya, India, Cuba, China, Africa and Vietnam and Cambodia have raised over £7 million for the three charities.

As well as training hard, Lorna needs to raise a minimum of £3,300 to support the work of the Women V Cancer charities and she is asking for people and companies in Trafford to help her reach that target.

She will be holding the “Declutter for Summer” Ladies event in Shawe Hall Community Centre, in Church Road, Urmston, on Saturday April 8, from 12noon to 4pm.

The event will feature a new and nearly new high street clothing sale and tables cost £10.

Lorna also welcomes any businesses who would like to hold an event or donate a prize for her fundraising efforts.
