CAMPAIGNERS fighting to save Flixton’s green belt from development manned information stalls in Urmston town centre on Saturday.

During the successful event they handed out 1000 car stickers and leaflets to shoppers in just over an hour.

They also signed up their youngest supporter - 10-month-old Chloe Warbrick, who was out with her mum Clare.

The campaigners - from Flixton, Urmston and Davyhulme Future Planning on-line group - are fighting town hall proposals to build houses on swathes of land in Flixton as part of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF).

The event was held to highlight the issue.

The group's Barbara Harper said: "We gave out 1000 car stickers and leaflets to local people in just over an hour and we were still being asked for them after we had run out, demonstrating that the support for protecting our green space is as strong as ever.

"Baby Chloe's appearance on the day encapsulated what our campaign is all about. Not only is Chloe our newest - and no doubt cutest - recruit but she also represents what we are trying to protect for her future and for others of her generation."
