COUNCIL chiefs have held a meeting with residents who are campaigning to save Flixton's green belt from development.
Council leader, Cllr Sean Anstee, and Flixton ward's councillors - Jonathan Coupe, Paul Lally and Vivienne Ward - met four residents to listen to their concerns.
Residents in the area are protesting at town hall proposals to build houses on swathes of green bet land in Flixton as part of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF).
More than 1,000 residents recently took part in a demonstration at Flixton Fields on January 7.
That led to the meeting with a number of residents being arranged, which lasted for one and a quarter hours on January 18.
One of the residents, Michelle McGrath, said after the meeting: "This is a positive step forward.
"We are cautiously encouraged by the very fact that Trafford Council is engaging with residents."
The councillors listened to the residents' concerns and they agreed to provide answers to them by the end of January, with a follow-up meeting to be held in mid February.
