Flixton Brass Band have had a successful summer, winning first prize in both the Yorkshire March and Hymn competitions which they entered.
The competitions attract a large number of brass bands from across the North West and Yorkshire, one being held in the famous Brass Band village of Brighouse.
At the contests, the band firstly had to play a street march as they paraded down the street, then in the contest ring - a hymn followed by a more difficult contest march.
The next opportunity to hear the band is on Friday September 30 at 8pm at their special Stage and Screen Concert at Our Ladys and English Martyrs Parish Centre, Davyhulme Road, Urmston.
Tickets on the door are £6 (£5 concessions, including under 16s).
